Christchurch Buddhist Centre
Activities catering from beginners to advanced practitioners. Word on dana, the practice of generosity, of openness, and our capacity to embrace others with compassion and love. Following the example of the Buddha, Dharma talks, teachings and practices are offered freely. Your donations, whether through membership or spontaneous at an activity, will be gratefully accepted and will ensure the ongoing maintenance of the meditation/teaching hall (gompa) for the benefit of all.
Arriving at the Centre
The gompa is situated behind the main house, at the end of the driveway.
As you walk down the gravel driveway you are greeted by an impressively crafted antique Tibetan monastery door. Nestled amongst a sanctuary of trees and flowers and waving Tibetan prayer flags the surroundings of the Gompa (meditation hall) support a reflective and meditative learning environment.
The Kora (or path around the Gompa) has also been carefully constructed to support practice.
There is a ramp to enable wheelchair access to the front entrance via the large Tibetan doors.
